Thompson Information Services was founded in 1990 by Terry and Kathy Thompson. Together we bring over 70 years of diverse and intense experience in developing, managing, and applying business intelligence for both large and small organizations.
We welcome and embrace the latest technology based tools. At the same time, we know that though the tools change, the fundamentals of sound marketing and planning are remarkably stable. We bring proven experience to a world of great new technology based tools.
Terry Thompson has 4 decades of intense and diverse experience in marketing research design, execution, analysis, and information application to profitable business planning.
Terry managed the new product marketing research effort with Calgon Corp. that led to the launch of Cling Free, the first fabric softener for the dryer. Cling Free, and several other products Terry helped develop, remain successful nearly thirty years later.
Terry established and directed the marketing research department at Mercury Marine, playing a major role in developing Black Max, the integrated branding, product, and positioning concept that propelled Mercury to become the worldwide leader in the consumer marine industry.
Terry has held executive client service positions with major marketing research vendors, including such top 50 research firms as Chilton Research Services and Savitz Research Centers. Terry is an accomplished focus group moderator, a veteran of over 1500 focus groups.
Terry is a graduate of Bucknell University (B.S. - Business Administration with an emphasis on psychology) plus much continuing education. Studies include management, logic, political science, statistics, forecasting, accounting, corporate finance, economics, and psychology. Continuing education has included advanced statistical analytical methods, computer and Web interview programming, database management and survey tabulation, and international business.
Kathy Thompson brings over 30 years of experience in organizational analysis, custom computer programming, information system analysis, and database management. Kathy meets your data needs with custom solutions rather than off the off-the-shelf solutions.
Kathy is expert in training and employee motivation, including development of programs and materials. Her expertise includes converting statistical and financial databases across computer platforms, software, and operating systems, enabling extensive database information mining.
Kathy is an expert in financial fields, including health insurance, life insurance, annuities, and Medicare supplements.
Kathy has served in client service and development positions with Bowne Information Systems, MAI/Basic Four, Professional Solutions Group, and Economic Data, Inc. Responsibilities have included sales, client consulting, project management, applications design, custom programming, training, automation support management, and database design and management.
Kathy is a graduate of Temple University, (BS-Chemistry), with continuing education in finance, insurance, a variety of computer operating systems and languages.
